Aluminium foil used in food service and packaging industries is virtually a wide range of alloys made by pure aluminium mixed with small amounts of other metals, which are added to acquire the desired performances of various applications or to reduce the thickness yet retain the strength and durability of aluminium foil. It is a very thin sheet ranging from 0.006mm to the upper ISO defined limit of 0.2mm.

Even very thin, it provides a complete barrier to light, oxygen, grease, moisture, odor and contamination. Once food being wrapped or packed with aluminium foil rolls or containers, it can be preserved fresh for a long time without deterioration. Aluminium foil’s superior malleability allows it to be cast into different shapes and thickness without losing its barrier integrity.

It is sterile and hygienic due to the high temperature in annealing process. Plain aluminium foil is safe and corrosion resistant in direct contact with most foodstuffs. It can be lacquered with different coatings to enhance its corrosion resistance and visual attraction.

Aluminium foil is the most versatile material for food processing, for it withstands the extremes of temperatures ranging from freezing cold to baking hot, and thus it offers a superb one-stop solution by processing the food directly from freezers to (microwave) ovens to table serving.

It is 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly. Both aluminium foil scrap and used aluminium foil products can be recycled endlessly to make brand new products with minimum loss of the material’s original properties. Containers made of aluminium foil are light-weighted but robust enough to hold a large quantity of food. They can be stacked neatly to save space and cost in transportation.

The metallic gloss in aluminium foil itself can promote the visual appeal of its content. It can be further decorated with embossing, lacquers or prints. It is favored by designers for its compatibility with most of the printing technologies. The customized logos or user instructions can be printed onto its surface for brand promotion or safe utilization.
